League Coordinators are volunteers who are responsible for the organization, sustainability, recruitment of volunteers, recruitment of athletes, and overall logistics of the Challenger Baseball program in their community. League Coordinators are responsible for supporting their league (big or small!) to ensure that their Challenger Baseball athletes are supported, safe, and excited to be a part of the Challenger Baseball community for years to come. League Coordinators are a crucial part of any Challenger Baseball program. Some of the roles of a League Coordinator may include:
- Building a highly passionate, committed team of volunteers (coaches, buddies, other community volunteers) to help support the program;
- Recruiting athletes from local schools, organizations or programs to increase knowledge of and access to the program.
- Chartering your Challenger Baseball program on a yearly basis with Little League Canada.
- Hosting pre-season meetings and/or trainings with your coaches, buddies and volunteers.
- Liaising and establishing a great working relationship with your local Little League and/or Minor Baseball Association.
- Securing a safe, accessible place to play.
- Being the main point of contact with Jays Care Foundation.
- Spearheading/assisting with fundraising initiatives (where necessary).
- Creating a safe, inclusive environment (physically & emotionally).
- Celebrating players by filling emotional tanks and encouraging and/or assisting them to set personal goals.
- Assessing the impact of program.
Anyone who is willing to make a significant impact and time commitment to Challenger Baseball by agreeing to be the main point of contact for a league and who feels capable of being a supportive leader, friend and ally to Challenger Baseball athletes and buddies, is welcome to start a Challenger Baseball league and become the League Coordinator.
